Staying at JR-East Hotel Mets Shibuya with kids
This is one of my recommended hotels for families in Shibuya AND one of my recommended lower cost hotels for families in Tokyo.
Simple, clean, everything that travellers need (including in-house coin laundries and a simple breakfast restaurant)- all in great locations. I have stayed at the JR East Hotel Mets in Shibuya and found it to be so affordable (for Shibuya). The in-house tvs are all set up to easily log into Netflix, Youtube, Prime Video and Hulu. Please note that this is a simple accommodation – not fancy (which is why I recommend it for travellers on a budget but who want to still be in the middle of Shibuya.) Most rooms are for 1, 2 or 3 people but they do have a few rooms called “Deluxe Twin Residential Style” which can sleep 5 (2 x double beds + 1 additional pull out bed) and these rooms also include an in-room washing machine/dryer and a microwave.

Where to eat with kids near JR East Hotel Mets in Shibuya
Japanese Curry (2-3 mins walk from JR East Hotel Mets in Shibuya
And if you’re craving Japanese curry, this is a branch of the well known Japanese curry branch Cocoichibanya . This branch is called Cocoichibanya Shibuya Namikibashi (for when you pop it into google.) Last time I checked this branch also has gluten free AND vegan options too ( customers can choose their own curry toppings such as chicken Katsu or veggies such as spinach.)
Japanese curry to me is more like a stew or casserole than a curry -but, regardless, customers here can all choose their spice level from 1 -10.
To dine here, I would budget for 1500 yen per adult. Just to manage expectations this place is super super casual. No need to worry about noisy kids here. Cocoichibanya branches all accept most major credit cards. The entire restaurant is non-smoking. The place is small but it’s not an eat and linger type of place so I would just wait outside until seats open up OR get takeout! This branch is also walking distance from many spots in Daikanyama.
