If you’re looking to Tokyo Skytree with kids, you’ll also want to be armed with all of the other activities and cafes within and around the Skytree Complex. There is so much to do.
Okay… someone is going to be annoyed annoyed by this but…. I think that Skytree is HIGHLY overrated.
It is expensive and, although you might be lucky enough to spot Fuji on a clear Winter’s day…. I think I’d prefer to actually take in Fuji from a more lovely spot that is more fun for kids (my suggestions for spots with the most magical views that are also kid-friendly are here.)
But the complex itself has so much to offer for kids.
Between May – August there is a splash fountain for kids to play in out the front of the Solamachi Complex ( that is kind of wrapped around the Skytree.) It operates between 10am – 9pm.
Pack swimsuits and a change of clothing. Naked kiddies not allowed. Wet kids will not be allowed back into the complex.

Sumida Aquarium
My kiddie’s favourite aquarium in Tokyo is he modest but stunning Sumida Aquarium inside Skytree.

Within the Skytree complex, my kiddies also love the Disney store. It’s big and has a big ‘castle’ tv and a book with projected stories.
DISNEY STORE (3F OF THE SOLAMACHI COMPLEX IN SKYTREE)
If you are looking for a sushi train restaurant that is extremely budget friendly AND kid friendly, I recommend heading to one of the two Kurasushi restaurants around Skytree. One is called Kurasushi Oshiage Skytree on the second floor of Oshiage Station – only 100 metres from Oshiage Station itself. The other is the same name but is on the ground floor ( called the 1st floor in Japan.)
Both restaurants accept reservations, are fully automated, smoke free restaurants and accept most major credit cards. They are open from 11am -11pm every single day. You’ll really enjoy this restaurant. It’s fun, affordable and just easy.
It’s actually the largest sushi converyor belt restaurant in the world! This very store!
Also, did you know that there is a lovely big supermarket underneath the Tokyo SkyTree? It is called Central Square “Life” supermarket.
It’s great for picking up groceries, delicatessen items and ready made lunch boxes for meals.
Open from 9am-midnight.
Oyokogawa Park
This park is 5 mins walk from Tokyo Sky Tree Station on the Tokyo Skytree line.
This park is open for water play for all of July and August and weekends in September.
There are also some little rocks and a little waterfall. It’s not uncommon for children to find frogs and butterflies here.
Fishing here is allowed between Dec 29 – Jan 3.
There is a public restroom here and baby changing facilities (nothing fancy but it’s ok for a public park, I guess.)
Next? Venture out to nearby area – Asakusa with kids!
Oh, and if you wanted to get to Nezu Shrine from Skytree ? Take Toei Bus 26.
