YAKATABUNE WITH KIDS

YAKATABUNE WITH KIDS

A Yakatabune is a lunch or dinner cruise in Japan.
A really, really fun thing to do with either a large group or even just as a couple is take a Yakatabune.  This is a Japanese-style dinner cruise.

You pay a set amount for a tempura and sashimi dinner, free flowing drinks and karaoke or Japanese games on board.  Prices vary depending on times and group numbers but it’s safe to assume that you’ll pay around 6000-12000 yen per person.   Some of my friends didn’t love all the food but…give me a giant platter or sashimi and free-flowing wine and beer….and I’m the happiest lady in the city.
In winter, I recommend choosing at sukiyaki meal option.

You don’t have to wear a yukata or kimono – but I think it adds to the fun, no? (Make sure you wear it left over right, okay?) See here for places to buy a second hand yukata or kimono.
I loved walking on the roof of the boat. The view was spectacular.
Children are welcome (on most trips – ask in advance) and encouraged to join in on karaoke or games on board.

I recommend this particular company – booking via klook for experiencing Yakatabune as a family. (Kids must be at least 3 years old to take part.)
This yakatabune option is also excellent (they have a kids meal option for children 3-5 years of age too)
