OTHER CITIES: OSAKA AQUARIUM ( A GUEST POST BY MINNEMIJIN SMIT)

As everyone’s experiences and tips are different ( especially when traveling with little kiddies, right?) I was very much open to extra tips and trip advice from Guest Blogger Minnemijin Smit, a Mum of 2 children from the Netherlands.

Osaka Aquarium  is in the harbour area right near the ferris wheel, legoland and the harbor pirate cruise.

The aquarium’s main attractions are the 2 gigantic whale sharks.
They are in an enormous tank, surrounded by manta’s, hammerhead sharks etc.

But there are many more other beautiful things to see, like the jellyfish room, the Japanese spider crabs and many more.

In the aquarium you first GO up to the starting point; through an aqua tunnel and you start your 800 meters tour through the building.
You pass all the different species. Circling around are the whale sharks which you will encounter many many times.
They are so impressive.

At the end of the trip there is an opportunity to pet some small sharks and some rays.
This was very exciting for our kids!

The museum shop at the end is great, as well.  There were so many great small things I would have loved to buy, but as we are on a round-the-world trip makes it impossible to bring it all along.

After we had done the whole route, we got re-entry stamps and stepped outside of the aquarium for lunch.
I bought sandwiches and we got a very cute whale shark shaped ice-cream. It was blue soft-serve ice-cream with white sprinkles.

There is a big Square in front of the building where the often have performances.

After ‘lunch with a show’ our kids wanted to inside the aquarium again.

Many of the different exhibits have varying “feeding times” so it was so nice to be back there.

It was just really such a fun day out!
