This beautiful seaside beach playground is in Shizuoka Prefecture. Hirono Seaside Park.
It is 3 hours by car from central Tokyo. If you wanted to visit here by train it’s a bit more awkward ( take a bullet train to Shizuoka Station and then a local train to Mochimune Station and then a 25 min walk.)
It almost always comes up in Google Maps as Hirono Seaside Park but if you can’t find it – try the Japanese name Hirono Kaigan Koen.
If you are on a road trip – I recommend staying close by like we did at Hatago Inn, Shizuoka (I’ve written about it and have lots of pictures here.)
Please note that this blog post contains affiliate links – meaning that, if you book accommodation using one of my links, I will receive a small commission at no additional cost to you.
If you don’t want to stress about ANY of the traffic or logistics for getting here, I recommend booking a tour with TokudAw – they are my personal favourite company to use. They understand the importance of carseats for children and babies, unlike many other transfer or tour companies in Japan they use legally registered tour vehicles and legally registered tour drivers. Another amazing fact that I love about this company, they don’t hire drivers that smoke (not just while on their breaks – drivers who do not smoke at all!) I have pictures of some of their vehicles and carseats here.
The path beside the playground is sealed and would be beautiful for parents taking a walk with a baby in a stroller.
Hirono Seaside Park has a small water play area (suitable for toddlers), a large ship shaped playground, a flying fox and an adventure playground. There are also public restaurants here.

The splash pad section for toddlers looks like this.
And next to the ship playground is the flying fox.
There is an adventure playground next to the ship playground structure too.
Next to the playground are lots of these Anpanman statues.
Not an “authentic” Japanese recommendation BUT it’s a realistic recommendation for a road trip – there are lots of Drive Thru McDonalds in this area (this is very rare in the bigger cities in Japan.
Did you know that instead of fries at McDonald’s Japan you can order a side of edamame and corn. My daughter LOVES it!
A reader of my blog also gave me such an amazing suggestion – you can order a McDonald’s side salad and mix it with the edamame and corn to make a slightly heartier salad for under 600 yen!
*side note: McDonald’s fries are not vegetarian/vegan – they are fried in beef fat.
Here is an amazing roadside stop on the way back into Tokyo – and it has a Mt Fuji View!
