BEAUTIFUL TOKYO PARENT & BABY CAFES

BEAUTIFUL TOKYO PARENT & BABY CAFES

These are some of the loveliest spots to grab lunch for Mum/Dad and little one.
I don’t really recommend these places for a family dinner (with grown up food in mind) but for a lunch with you and baby or as part of a playdate? These are perfect.  So clean, well-equipped and cute.

This Parent & Baby Cafe sometimes call themselves Chano-ma and sometimes Chano-mama.
The people who created this place clearly had a baby at the time as they have thought of everything.
The restaurant is set up so, much like in traditional Japanese houses, the floor and table and “chairs” (seating spots) are all on the same level.   Baby’s can roll and play and have tummy time and all of that good stuff.   Kind of like hanging out with your baby on a giant double bed.

The food for the parents is lovely and healthy too.
I’ve translated the menu (below).  This was the menu in September 2017.
If you visit and the menu has changed substantially, please let me know and send me a picture and I’m happy to update as I go!

Warning: If you don’t like hanging around lots of babies here….avoid!! It’s a bit of a mad-house at lunchtime so… I’d go early or late-ish if you have that luxury.

Oh… and also…. I really think this place is for little babies … so once your baby is properly crawling… I think it’s time to “graduate” to a new lunch spot ( enjoy it while you can.)

This cafe is technically in Daikanyama but it’s almost Ebisu too so feel free to add some Ebisu activities before and afterwards.  (Ebisu with Kids suggestions are here. )

I visited this Organic Cafe Lulu for the first time this week (Sept 2017) and it was just so adorable! It was big enough that I might even be able to get some work done while the kids play.
It’s  actually perfect for international kids as there is an English school upstairs and my kids loved that they could chat away in English, as well as Japanese, to their new friends while they played.
For this reason it is also great as they have a great English picture book collection.
My kids loved the big cubby house in the middle and they pretend kitchen and kiddie-sized fuse ball table inside.  There are also blocks, jenga and wooden cars and tracks etc.
The food in this cafe is all organic so expect to pay a little more than normal but it’s all prepared with love that it was completely worth it.  The staff speak English well too.
They have change tables and a little toddler toilet too.

This cafe is so beautiful.  I didn’t want to leave.

Make sure you wear easily removable shoes as it’s a shoes-off-at-the-door place (especially as there are lots of little babies around – even more reason to keep inside nice and clean.)
No outside food or ipads allowed.
See here for their cafe calendar (yellow means they are closed that day.)
They also have Parent & Baby Yoga Classes (please call for details.)

The cafe is 5 minutes walk from Kiba Station. (Kiba sounds way further away than it really is. It’s only  5 minutes from Nihombashi Station.  )

The Dome is a Parent-Child Cafe is a very cool concept and I’d recommend it for Parents with children 3 years old or younger (any older and I think they would get a bit bored.)
It’s very convenient when kiddies need a wriggle and Mum and Dad would like to chat hands-free.
The vibe of the cafe is ‘Ladies who lunch’ and can be a little bit expensive but it’s very clean and the staff are really kind and friendly.

Lunch courses start at 2000 yen while dinner can be A La Carte or courses.
Kids’ plates are 900 yen.
The complete menu is available online here in English and Japanese.

The tables are in a circle and the toys in the middle.
They have high chairs and booster seats available.

It’s best to call and make a reservation.
