I have other articles on where to eat and visit with kids before going to Her Majesty’s Theatre ,before seeing a show at the Regent Theatre and before visiting the National Theatre in St Kilda. This is my article on where to go with kids before seeing a show at The Princess Theatre.

Where do I park when visiting the Princess Theatre with kids?
If you’re taking public transport, Parliament Station is right outside the theatre. However, this can be tricky if the show runs late and you don’t want to take kids home on the train. There is a carpark on Lonsdale Street called First Parking / 59 Lonsdale Street. They have some pretty good nightly rates and this carpark is just 4 mins walk from the Princess Theatre (you also walk past an IGA on the way to the theatre so it’s a good place to grab some non-noisy snacks for during the show.)
Where to play with kids before visiting the Princess Theatre?
Just across the road from the Princess Theatre is the grassy square with fountains called the Parliament Gardens. This is good if kids need to get rid of some wriggles before the show.
Or, if you walk 6 mins from the theatre, you can take a walk around or have a picnic in Treasury Gardens.
The Melbourne Museum is just 10 mins walk from the theatre but remember that it closes at 5pm so maybe grab a quick dinner between the museum closing and the show starting?
Where to eat with kids near the Princess Theatre?
Spaghetti Tree (4 mins walk)
A Melbourne institution. Definitely need a booking to dine here – gosh its so iconic. They have a kids menu but my kids also love eating adult portions here.
Chin Chin (13 mins walk)
You will definitely need a reservation here and it is the perfect spot for a special night or day as a family – especially if you are foodies. Make a reservation for Chin Chin online here.
