This was not a cheap night out as a family but I really, really cannot recommend it highly enough. Mamma Mia the Party is a dinner show experience – perfectly fine for kids and just so so so much fun.
Buying tickets for Mamma Mia The Party in London
I recommend making a reservation a few months ahead for the most date and table options.
Although our tickets said that we would most likely have to share a table with others – we actually got a table for 4 ! Just us! But that could have just been luck or to do with the number of people in our group etc.
We just booked Mamma Mia The Party directly on the website. We booked Tier 1 and LOVED our tickets. Like I said – this is not a cheap experience (but I do still really recommend it!) so you will need to budget for this special event. Food is included with the ticket and drinks are billed to your table as you go.

Is Mamma Mia The Party difficult to get to?
We stayed in Piccadilly Circus. We took the tube and it took us 35 mins. Closest station is North Greenwich and then it’s a short 7 min walk to the theatre. I recommending googling to see if there is a big arena concert event on at the O2 at the same time so you know whether or not to allow for additional time etc.
Note: it is a theatre / event space inside the O2 complex. You will need to go through bag searches with security at the main entrance. There are many restaurants inside the 02 (shopping as well) so I recommend going early for dinner, a movie or clip’n’climb. It’s all enclosed and so vibey – like being in a big shopping mall or a casino.

Is Mamma Mia The Party the same as Mamma Mia the Musical?
No. It’s actually not.
The format is eat, an act of the show, eat, another act of the show, eat, another final act – and then free dancing (turns into a bit of an Abba nightclub kind of thing.). We left once the show was over and left the non-family tables party on without us.
There is a show based around Abba songs and the vibe is similar to the musical but the characters are different as is the story line.
Is Mamma Mia The Party appropriate for children?
Yes! Kids must be at least 5 years old to attend though. And anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The entire show is very much appropriate for children. Some tables are hen’s nights or work functions but the vibe is fun and silly – rather than boozy and boisterous. It’s all very G rated, happy vibes.
We all loved it so so much.

What happens when you enter the restaurant / arena at Mamma Mia The Party?
*When you enter the O2 complex you will have to pass through security checks*
They had everyone line up before the doors open and seated the far side first (remember you’re inside the O2 the whole time so you’re indoors while waiting so it’s ok.) Once entering and passing reception all visitors can check all their jackets and bigger bags at the cloakroom. Then everyone is shown to their seat and is greeted by the wait staff. Some of the performers also come around to say hi and introduce themselves. It’s very chill. Very sweet.
I have a clip of our time at Mamma Mia The Party here if you would like to see just how much we enjoyed it.
Is Mamma Mia The Party really loud for children’s ears?
In my opinion- not at all. Same as a musical, I’d say. Definitely not loud like a live music concert. I had ear plugs in my bag, just in case, but didn’t need them even once.

What is the food like at Mamma Mia The Party?
Greek cuisine. Greek salads and olives and dips for starters. A beef and lamb dish for the table for mains and some little pastries and pannacotta style desserts. As I mentioned earlier, drinks are not included with tickets so you pay for those at the end.
I am pescetarian and I let them know when I made the booking. So they gave me a vegetarian moussaka instead of the meat. It was all really good.
We actually fed our kids earlier than the show incase they didn’t eat much (we haven’t eaten much greek food as a family lately) but my little guy nibbled on a few things and my daughter LOVED the beef. Success!
