TAKING THE TUBE IN LONDON WITH KIDS

COVENT GARDEN WITH KIDS
Covent Garden is a fabulous place to wander, shop, nibble and wander some more.
If you’d like a sit-down restaurant you really do need to make a reservation ahead of time as this area is so busy with locals and tourists (and even more so again in the Christmas season as the christmas tree at Covent Garden is so so beautiful.).
I do recommend wandering through the market section for street food and bakery options first but when it comes to a sit down meal, I recommend booking one of the following:
Ave Mario (Italian)
This place was recommended to me by a friend (Thanks, Lynne!) and it is so popular – for a good reason. So vibey and the food was really yummy. You will need a reservation (we had to go with a 3pm reservation as we only booked a few days in advance.) But I’m still so so glad we went!
Wagamama (Japanese-fusion)
This is a Japanese-inspired chain and I love it every single time. It’s just a good old reliable option. This one in Covent Garden is especially popular so you’re unlikely to get a walk-in. Book ahead!
Benihana Covent Garden (Teppanyaki)
This may not appeal to those on a budget (you’ll probably pay aroun 50 pounds per adult here), it’s so much fun to do the whole teppanyaki deal with kids where they have to catch the food and see the chef do the cooking on the hot plate right at the table.
Pizza Pilgrims
This restaurant specializes in pizza but also do salads, sides and desserts. The restaurant vibes are fun and rowdy. Pizza Pilgrims is a chain restaurant so you can also come across them in other parts of London and also in Edinburgh. They have kids menus and highchairs.
A playground near Covent Garden
Just a few mins walk away- if kids need a place to stretch – I recommend going to the Drury Lane (yes! as in “The Muffin Man!”) playground. It’s small but has a spinning wheel and a slide structure. My kids are bigger now but still loved this little break from the crowds. I was glad I had tissues in my bag to wipe down some of the equipment.
LEICESTER SQUARE WITH KIDS
The Market Place Foodhall here is FANTASTIC! It means that everyone in the family can get something different but still sit together.

I also highly recommend getting a donut at Bread Ahead in the same Market Place Foodhall.
THE O2 ON A RAINY DAY!
The O2 is a good spot for an indoor day – so much to do here. There are restaurants, a cinema and a clip’n’climb as well as an outlet shopping mall.
It’s all enclosed and so vibey – like being in a big shopping mall or a casino.

This is also the place to do the Mamma Mia The Party and you can also take the IFS Cloud Cable Car from here. I, personally, prefer this with kids to the London Eye.

LONDON AT CHRISTMAS TIME WITH KIDS
Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park is overpriced a kitsch but, I must admit, my kids loved it so so much.
It’s like a big town fair. Book the ice-skating on the site ahead of time as it does book out.
