WHERE TO STAY IN IKEBUKURO WITH KIDS?

Ikebukuro is not my favourite area to stay as it is very built up BUT there are some nice accommodation options for families here now and it certainly can be bustling in the evening. See here for my full list of recommended hotels for families in Tokyo (I add to this list as I find new gems.)
Read here if you have any concerns about how to make sure everyone in the family gets their own bed – especially if your children are too big to (or you prefer not to) bed-share.

Ikebukuro is on the Yamanote line so it is convenient.  I recommend staying here if you have kids who are big anime fans as the Sunshine City Mall has lots of shopping (but you also don’t need to stay here to access those places.) If you decide to stay in this area, I recommend staying at Mimaru Ikebukuro.
Some rooms here can sleep up to 8 people.

The dining space at Mimaru Ikebukuro
The bed set up at Mimaru Ikebukuro . 4 beds. 2 on the top 2 on the bottom
Bedding at Mimaru Ikebukuro
The kitchenette area at Mimaru Ikebukuro. See how the cling wrap/saran wrap and paper towel is also provided?

I’ve written in more detail about Mimaru Tokyo Ikebukuro here.

Another option is: Hotel Hisoca in Ikebukuro.
It is 4 minutes walk from the West Exit of JR Ikebukuro Station.
Some rooms can sleep 5 guests and some 6.
Rooms have a kettle and a toaster oven and a small fridge. For babies, the hotel is able to provide a high chair.

The Sunshine City Prince Hotel is right above/ connected to Ikebukuro Station and the Sunshine City Complex. This is a western style (although they do have a few tatami rooms for larger families) hotel and is a great option if you have kids that love anime related shopping and love having lots and lots of gatcha machines close by. There is a large Family Mart within the hotel too. Room types include twin, triple, quadruple and then family rooms (Japanese style) for up to 6 people. There are 4 restaurants within the hotel – and you are connected to Sunshine City Shopping Mall so it’s easy to make use of all of the restaurants there too.
They have an on-site coin laundry for guests to use.
