I’m not going to lie, because we live here, we end up with quite a substantial amount of GAP, Zara Kids and H&M.
But we do like lots of Japanese brands and I wanted to share where we go in order to find them – especially as I know that lots of people come here and want to leave with Japanese children’s clothing.
Aeon Family Mall in Chiba
If you’ve just moved to Tokyo and need to do the whole strollers, clothes and toys thing… I recommend going here. Mainly because there is lots and lots of choice and varied price tags.
There are lots of other malls (sports, fashion, pets) all connected. And a Costco right outside too.

Takashimaya Shinjuku
There are so many beautiful clothing options for kiddies on the 9th floor of this department store. Not cheap though. I love it for even just a lovely window shop. Shopping in Takashimaya is an experience in itself. (More details about what else you can find here in this post.) The 9th floor is the Children’s Floor. There are some very pricey clothing items but the toy section is great fun and has a small area where children can try out some of the toys on sale.

Children’s Floors at Odakyu & Keio Department Stores in Shinjuku
If you’re shopping and need other places to entertain children in the meantime, I recommend the Keio Department Store in West Shinjuku. The 7th floor has a fantastic toy section with lots of toys to touch and play with (the toys are considerably cheaper than Takashimaya too.) There is also a small play space that would keep toddlers happy. This department store also lends out strollers to customers (for use in within the Keio Department store only).

Daddy Oh Daddy
Not the err… wittiest name for a children’s brand but I do think that these clothes are so so cute.
There is an online store (find them on instagram @daddyohdaddy_official ) but if you ‘d like to see their collection in person, I recommend going to Keio Shinjuku children’s floor or the kids floor in Seibu Department Store in Ikebukuro.
Toys R Us, Aqua City Odaiba
They have a small selection of clothing that is relatively cheap. Not exactly ‘Made in Japan’ but a cheaper option. They rarely have clothing bigger than 100cm so best to shop here for 3 years and under.
It is located on the ground floor of Aqua City.
At the far end of the store is a Thomas the Tank Engine display and train table for children to play with. There is also a moving, roaring, large dinosaur placed on top of a toy display. These are both located close to the baby feeding & changing room so if you have two children (and two adults) one child could play while the other was being fed and changed.
Near the exit is another small duplo play area too.
If you’re looking to shop, the Japanese store does have different merchandise to its overseas counterparts so it’s worth a look around.
This is also a good place to pick up some snacks and/or baby food.

Nishimatsuya
This is probably the cheapest option I’ve found. T-shirts etc for around 500 yen etc. It is a chain store. There are two in Odaiba.

ABC Mart for Shoes
I do love this shop for kids shoes. Lots to choose from. Not too expensive.
Just be warned, some of the Shibuya and Harajuku stores don’t stock children’s shoes.
