TOKYO METRO MUSEUM (ALSO KNOWN AS KASAI SUBWAY MUSEUM)

I would count this next place as a “well…if you’re already in the area” kind of place but my 2 year old was shattered when it was time to go. It’s called the Tokyo Metro Museum and all exhibits are about the Tokyo city subway system.   It bought us about 45 minutes or so which was good considering the museum is quite small.  About 20% of the displayed information is in English but…since my little one isn’t exactly reading age he didn’t seem to mind one bit.  It’s not as interactive as the Railway Museum or Keio Museum listed above but there are trains to climb in and around, driving simulators, photo booths for train-themed pictures etc.  My little boy loved the model railways and the interactive drivers’ carriage.

There is a room with vending machines with some snacks like rice crackers, chocolates, juice and some sweet breads.

Entry is 210 yen and 100 yen for school age children and is free for kiddies under 4.   Such a bargain, yes?
If you’re interested on finding out more about what this place entails – they have an extremely comprehensive English website (even moreso than many of the larger railway museums.)
They have toilets inside and a change table.

There is a small gift shop too.

To get there, take the subway to Kasai Station and the subway is directly above.  Kasai is out towards and almost at Disneyland.
The museum is 16 mins drive or 30 mins by train from Tokyo Disneyland.
