STUCK IN A HOTEL ROOM IN JAPAN?

STUCK IN A HOTEL ROOM IN JAPAN?

Whether it be down to covid or a sick ( or just sleeping) baby keeping you locked up in a hotel room in Japan, there are a few things you can do if you’re unable to go out…

1) If you have one person in your party I would send one of them out to one of the closest depachika.  Depachika are the food hall floors at the bottom of the large department stores. They are like giant gourmet delis and everything is designed be taken home to eat.  Fried foods, freshly baked breads, sushi, salads, sweets….

2) Chuhai Challenge
If you drink alcohol, then how about grabbing a whole lot of mixed drinks from the convenience store and then rate/guess the flavours as you go.
This is especially fun if you don’t read any Japanese at all.  It’s like a lucky bag game.

3) Watch Japanese tv
Most hotels in Japan will include the free to air channels only but why not make the most of that- see if you can catch some sumo in the evenings ( and if you can’t find Sumo then you can watch for free here-during Sumo season, of course.)  And don’t worry if it’s late, Japanese “prime time” game shows are on from around 11pm at night.
