Please bear with me here as this blog post is a work in progress – but I have decided to hit publish so that I can add to it as I go.
WHERE TO EAT IN HIMEJI WITH KIDS?
Gluten Free Taiyaki in Himeji
Rice Flour Taiyaki Stand – Himeji Castle is 9 mins walk from Himeji Station or 12 mins walk from the castle. Open everyday 11am-7pm.
Kobe Beef on Skewers, Fried or as part of a Kobe Beef Rice Bowl
The restaurant is called Kushiyaki Kobe Beef and it is 7 mins walk from Himeji Castle. The rice bowl is good for gluten free dinners – just ask for no sauce on the rice bowl (the meat is juicy enough that it’s still good without the sauce.) It’s down a little alleyway. It just has a small counter so you may like to ask for takeaway. Cash only. Rice bowls are between 2000-3000 yen.
KUSHIYAKI KOBE BEEF
Put Kushiyaki Kobe Beef, Himeji into google maps to find it.
OPEN 11AM-5PM
A Casual Family Restaurant with Steak, All-You-Can-Eat-Bread & Salads
10 mins in cab (approx 2000 yen) from the Castle is Steak Gusto – Gusto is a family restaurant in Japan but when they are a “Steak Gusto” it means that they, obviously, also offer steak but also have all-you-can-eat-bread and salads. This restaurant accepts most major credit cards. They accept reservations and walk-ins.
