Where to buy decaffinated coffee in Japan?
Ok so this is a little tricky to get your head around but most coffee chains will call it “caffeine-less” coffee as it is not ZERO caffeine but, instead, reduced caffeine. In Japan it is not so easy to find completely caffeine free.
When asking for decaf – you are better to ask for “Caffeine-less” or “Non-Caffeine” or “Zero Caffeine” as the term decaf isn’t used widely in Japan.
Kaldi stores
Google “kaldi near me” for some decaf options. See my link here to all of the decaf options at Kaldi stores in Japan.
Big brand hotels
The international hotels like the Marriotts, Hiltons and Hyatts etc all will have decaf in their restaurants and coffee bars.
Starbucks
Starbuck has a reduced caffeine espresso.
Convenience stores
Convenience stores like Lawson stock sweet “caffeine-less” iced coffee in the juice section.
Other coffee chains in Japan with decaf coffee or reduced caffeine options:
Tullys
Sarutahiko
Streamer Coffee
Woodberry Coffee
